Tomb of the great Ulama who spread Islam in Simeulue Island who is Syech Khalilullah or known as Tgk Diujung. The complex of tomb is visited by many people especially during Holy Days of Islam. This tomb is located in the village of Latak Ayah, Simeulue Cut.
According to the historical records of some references obtained by Aceh Tourism Team in Simeulue, Tgk Diujung is a great Ulama from Minangkabau, West Sumatra. When Tgk Diujung went to perform the pilgrim to Saudi Arabia, on the way he stopped by in Aceh. At that time was the periode of Sultan Iskandar Muda who ruled the Kingdom of Aceh Darussalam, and the Sultan asked Tgk Diujung to spread Islam on the Simeulue Island. In the 16th century eventually Tgk Diujung helped by his student Tgk Bakudō Batu (Banurullah) did succesfully convert the people of Simeulue to Islam.
In the complex of tomb which is surrounded by a vast sea, there are also the tombs of his wife and daughter Putri Melur. If you visit this place, the tomb guard who is normally a descendant of Tgk Diujung will showcase a turban, spear, and water kettles which are about 700 years old.
